The first prize was an Apple Mini iPod announced on April 30, 2004 for who ever ranked #1 for a certain keyword in Google on Monday June 07.
On Friday May 21 bonus prizes were added….
Bonus prizes are awarded in the following categories, Judges Choice, Best Blog and Best Definition. They will be judged at 9 GMT on July 7 and announced shortly after.
- Judges Choice is awarded to the page which has the most creative use of SEO techniques. It must have unique, creative and readable content and appear in the top 100 upon judging.
- Best Blog is awarded to the most entertaining blog. The blog must appear in the top 100 at the time of judging to be considered for this award.
- Best Definition is awarded to the most creative definition of the term Nigritude Ultramarine. The page must appear in the top 100 at the time of judging to be considered for this award.

On Friday May 07, 2004, Chris announced nigritude ultramarine as the keyword. By the end of the day there was already a few sites listed for the keyword…in Yahoo, MSN and Hotbot. With in a day some versions of Google showed a few listings for the term.
